A Promised Land by Barack Obama

It took me forever to finish this book. But it was worth the wait. Although this book is long, it is far from boring. To get this perspective on the first four years of the first black president of the United States of America is extraordinary. I do read a lot of memoirs and autobiographies, with that being said this is an lane of its own. It is so when it is paste, it’s pace keeps my attention. I thought that 700 pages at first was way too long but now I want a part two lol. It is so much information packed into this book and there are highlights and low lights. It shows the stress but also the rewards I had no idea how crazy it is to be a president but by reading this book I got a little bit of a hint of that. I do also understand now currently how we got to be or how the USA got to be where it is right now. You start to see the signs of of what is common now back when it wasn’t back when it was uncommon. It is crazy. how 05 when Barack was a Senate when he was elected elected to the Senate it is crazy how much politics have changed over the 15 years. I think this book came out in 2020 so from 05 to 2020 it is crazy how much has changed but he covers obviously his run for the Senate and then his run for the president and then his first four years, which is why the book is 700 pages long. It is something that I obviously had to keep picking back up due to the length. I really really really really really want a part two. The writing was excellent the way everything was edited together was excellent and the way that he allowed us to see how caged in he was because he became a president. He talked about how he was allowed to you know just move about in the world. He talked about at one point where he had a dream where no one really knew his name and he could walk down the street and he could order ice cream or something like that and then just walk outside and sit on a bench and it really encapsulated how lonely the presidency could be and also how something so simple as just being unknown could be so peaceful. I truly enjoyed this book. I think everyone should read this book to understand how the politics in the United States of America has changed so drastically. I definitely see the inkling of what is now in 2026 aware it began back in 07. This isn’t an amazing book that covers a presidency and a campaign that I’ve haven’t seen in my lifetime. I am just inspired by this book, but also I hold Barack in a high regard due to his respect for the office the respect that he showed to his staff to his family to his allies. I wanna part two I want part two and I wanna part two this is a must read.
